Falcons Continue Non-Conference Competition In California

SAN DIEGO – The Bowling Green State University tennis team continues non-conference competition with two spring break matches, both played in California. The Falcons begin with a match against Point Loma on Thursday, March 10, with first serve slated for 5 p.m. EST. After a day off, the Orange and Brown will play Claremont-Mudd-Scripps at 2 p.m. EST on Saturday, March 12. This is Bowling Green's first action of March and the program's first competition in California since 2014.
Last Time Out
The Falcons split their final two matches of February, falling to Michigan State before defeating Cleveland State. Bowling Green dropped the match to the Spartans, 7-0, then fell behind 3-0 against Cleveland State. Four consecutive singles wins gave the Falcons a thrilling comeback victory, moving their record to 3-5. Selina Karg, Florencia Fuentes, Annika Vetter, and Maru Poppe pushed the Orange and Brown in front of the Vikings, with the final three players earning their victories in three sets.

Opponent Outlook: Point Loma
Point Loma enters the weekend with an 8-5 record, including a 5-3 mark at home. The Sea Lions have won the doubles point in their last three matches, with the duos of Arianna Audelo/Rachel Whittington and Samantha Neilson/Angelique Friedrich winning all of their matches.

This will be the first meeting between Bowling Green and Point Loma.
On the Courts: Point Loma
Thursday's match will be played at the PLNU Tennis Courts on the campus of Point Loma Nazarene University. This will be the Falcons' first time playing on outdoor courts this spring.

Opponent Outlook: Claremont-Mudd-Scripps
Claremont-Mudd-Scripps enters the weekend with a 5-2 overall record and a perfect 4-0 record at home. The Athenas recently concluded competition at the ITA Indoor Nationals, finishing fourth. The doubles duo Gabby Lee and Crystal Juan qualified for the ITA Cup in the fall, winning two of their consolation matches. CMS begins the weekend on Friday, March 11, with a home match against Emory. The Athenas fell to Emory in the ITA Indoor National Semifinals by a score of 6-3.

First serve is slated for 1 p.m. The Orange and Brown will then travel to Northern Illinois for the MAC opener on Sunday, March 20. First serve will be at 1 p.m. in Dekalb, Illinois.
