Kaila Butler and Zaresha Neal are Set for NCAA Outdoor Track & Field East Prelims

BOWLING GREEN, Ohio – Kaila Butler and Zaresha Neal will represent the Bowling Green State University track & field team on Thursday and Saturday at the 2022 NCAA Outdoor Track & Field East Preliminary Championship, which is being hosted by Indiana at the Haugh Track & Field Complex.

• Hammer Throw (11 a.m.) – Kaila Butler
• Shot Put (6:45 p.m.) – Zaresha Neal

• Discus Throw (1 p.m.) – Zaresha Neal
Notes
• Butler owns the 10th-best hammer throw in the nation this season, which was at 69.35m at the Len Paddock Open earlier this month. The throw is the fourth-best this year among those competing at the NCAA East Prelims.
• Butler is coming off a MAC championship in the hammer throw last time out with a toss of 67.32m.
• Neal enters the East Prelims with the 15th-best shot put throw among those competing at the NCAA East Prelims with a toss of 16.90m last time out at the MAC Championships where she placed second.
• Neal is also competing in the discus and currently ranks No. 12 among those she will compete against at the NCAA East Prelims. The MAC champion in the event had her best throw of the year at the Len Paddock Open earlier this month with a throw of 55.34m.
To Advance
• Both Butler and Neal will get three throws each in their respective events with the Top-12 in each event advancing to the Championship in Eugene, Ore.
• Advancing student-athletes will get three more throws in Eugene in order to advance to the finals in that event.

• If Butler and Neal finish in the Top-12 at the East Preliminary Championship, they will advance to the NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championship in Eugene, Ore., which runs from June 8-11.
