FUN FALCON FACTS
• The Falcons are 6-4-1 on the season, and BGSU is currently in first place in the MAC with a conference record of 4-0-1 to date. Three of the team's four losses this season have come at the hands of nationally-ranked teams, and all four setbacks were against schools from Power 5 conferences (two schools from the Atlantic Coast Conference and one each from the Big Ten and Big 12).
• On Thursday night (Oct. 5), the Falcons scored a season-high three goals – with all three coming before halftime – in a 3-2 road win over Miami. Lexi Czerwien, Ellie Pool and Katie Cox each scored goals, with Brynn Gardner picking up two assists in the win.
• BGSU posted a 2-0 victory at Toledo in the MAC opener (Sept. 21), before battling Western Michigan to a scoreless draw (Sept. 24) at Cochrane Stadium. Then, on Sept. 28, freshman Emma Stransky's goal in the 78th minute lifted the Orange and Brown to a 1-0 win over visiting Akron.
• Last Sunday (Oct. 1), Czerwien's first collegiate goal midway through the first half proved to be the game winner as the Falcons were victorious, 2-0, at Ohio. Brynn Gardner scored off of a nifty Stransky assist early in the second half. Czerwien then made it two-straight matches with the game-opening goal on Thursday at Miami.
• In the Toledo match, Pool – a transfer from UT – scored with just over two minutes gone, and Brynn Gardner converted a second-half penalty kick.
• Madison Vukas and Lili Berg have combined for four shutouts in five MAC matches, and five total clean sheets on the year. The BGSU defense allowed only 10 shots on goal – and zero goals – in the first four MAC games.
• Center back Isabelle Gilmore, a big reason for those shutouts, was named to the College Soccer News National Team of the Week last week (Sept. 25), and was the MAC Defensive Player of the Week this week (Oct. 3).
• After dropping road decisions against #17 Michigan State and Cincinnati to begin the season BG bounced back to end the month of August with wins over Loyola Chicago and Detroit Mercy. Then, however, the Falcons suffered a pair of losses against top-25 teams to end the non-conference slate, dropping a 5-1 decision at #21 Pittsburgh and a 3-0 match against #11 Notre Dame at Cochrane.
• Brynn Gardner leads the team in scoring with eight points, while Pool has seven and Stransky six. Gardner and Pool each have three goals, while Stransky, Cox and Czerwien have found the back of the net twice so far this season. , Gardner, Stransky and Maya Dean are tied for the club lead in assists, with two each.
• Gilmore is the lone Falcon to have been on the pitch for all 990 minutes, while Emilie Gardner has played 868 minutes on the year.
• Berg and Vukas have split time in each of BGSU's first 11 matches. Each has played 495 minutes, and Vukas has 25 saves while Berg has 22 stops this year to date. Vukas has a goals-against average of 1.27 while Berg sports a 1.45 GAA, and as mentioned, they have shared five shutouts.
• A total of 24 different players have seen action in at least one match this season. That lengthy list includes all nine of the team's true freshmen. Four Falcons – Cox, Dean, Gilmore and Emilie Gardner – each have started all 11 games so far, while Brynn Gardner and Makenzie Ortman each have made 10 starts.
• A total of 18 different Falcons have started at least one match this season.
• The Falcons returned 16 letterwinners, including eight starters, from last season's club. The 2022 team went 9-5-5 overall and 6-2-3 in MAC play, placing third in the 12-team league. BG battled Ball State to a 1-1 draw in the semifinals of the '22 league tourney, before the Cardinals advanced via PKs.
SUCCESSFUL AT HOME
• BGSU has a record of 41-10-9 at home since the start of the 2017 season. The Falcons are 32-5-6 against MAC teams at Cochrane Stadium in that time, having outscored the opposition, 81-27, in those 43 matches.
• Since Jimmy Walker took the helm of the Falcons in 2020, BGSU has a record of 16-6-6 at Cochrane, including a 13-3-4 ledger vs. MAC opposition.
THE OPPONENT
• Eastern Michigan is 1-6-6 on the year, and the Eagles are 1-2-2 in MAC play. After going 0-2-3 to begin the season, EMU put together a four-match unbeaten streak that included a win over Central Michigan and a draw with Ball State to begin MAC action. The Eagles also played to a draw with defending MAC champion Buffalo last Sunday. Individually, Kate Robinson leads the team with six assists and 12 points, and also has three goals, while both Meagan Lukowski and Olivia Sipsock have eight points. Lukowski has a team-high four goals. In goal, Ella Holland has started 11 of EMU's 13 matches, and has 54 saves, one shutout and a GAA of 1.95. Head coach Scott Hall, the longest-tenured coach in MAC women's soccer history, returned 21 players from the 2022 team that went 3-11-4 overall and 2-7-2 in conference play.
THE SERIES
• BGSU trails Eastern Michigan, 15-14-2, in the all-time series, but the Falcons are undefeated in the last six matchups, having gone 5-0-1 vs. the Eagles since a 2-1 EMU victory in Ypsilanti in 2017. Last season, BGSU picked up a 7-1 road win (Oct. 23, 2022). The Falcons won the last matchup at Cochrane Stadium, 3-0, two years ago (Oct. 14, 2021). BGSU is 6-7-1 at home and 8-8-1 on the road against EMU through the years.

• Following the EMU matchup, BGSU will wrap up a brief two-game homestand with a Thursday (Oct. 12) contest vs. Kent State. That match is set for a 7:00 p.m. start at Cochrane Stadium.
