Falcons Fend Off Bulldogs In Weekend Sweep

BOWLING GREEN, Ohio. - The Bowling Green Falcons (7-11-0, 5-5-0 CCHA) found their first sweep of the season against the Ferris State Bulldogs (5-10-1, 3-7-0 CCHA) in a CCHA show down Saturday night in Slater Family Ice Arena. Josh Nodler recorded two goals and both of them being on power plays while Gustav Stjernberg tallied his first two assists game.
The Falcons were looking for their first sweep of the season and did just that Saturday night in Slater Family Ice Arena. The Falcons got on the board first in the first period with the help of Josh Nodler, Spencer Kersten kept the momentum going in the second period. Ferris State found their first goal of the series in the second period, not soon after the Kersten goal. Nodler responded later in the second period with his second goal to and the Bulldogs entered the third period scoring two. Ryan O'Hara scored the game winning goal late in the third period with secure a 4-3 win.

Bowling Green will be on the road next week, when they travel to Bemidji, Minnesota where they will face Bemidji State in a CCHA matchup. The first game is set for Thursday, December 14 puck drop set for 8:07 p.m. and the second game will be Friday, December 15at 8:07 p.m. in Sanford Center.

Scoring Plays
- Josh Nodler started the scoring on a power-play at 15:01 in the first period. Nodler received the puck from Stjernberg and hit the puck in the faceoff circle, with traffic in front, still finding his way to the back of the net.
- Spencer Kersten responded at 16:46 in the second period. Gustav Stjernberg passed the puck from the point to Kersten just below the faceoff circle, Kersten had a clear shot and secured the goal for the Falcons.
- Travis Shoudy found the first goal of the weekend for the Bulldogs at 14:13 in the second period. Shoudy received the puck in front of the Falcons goal and was able to pass it by Moore for a score of 2-1.
- Josh Nodler found his second power-play goal at 6:23. Brody Waters attempted a shot on the doorstep of the Bulldogs goal, Nodler found the puck and snuck it past the goal tender for a 3-1 lead.
- Nick Hale scored at 17:11 in the third period. Hale pulled the Bulldogs within one again when he shot the puck from the blue line and passed it by Moore for a 3-2 score.
- Jason Brancheau scored the last goal for the Bulldogs at 11:19 in the third period. Brancheau received the puck from a pass across the ice, in front of Moore, and hit it in the back of the net. The Bulldogs tied the game up 3-3.
- Ryan O'Hara called game at 6:34 in the third period. Spencer Kersten passed the puck below the goal line and O'Hara found it in the middle and past it by the Bulldogs goaltender to secure the 4-3 win.
- Josh Nodler scored two power-play goals which was his first two power-play goals, as well as his first multi-goal game for the Orange and Brown. Nodler now tallies four goals on the season and seven assist.
- Spencer Kersten scored his fifth goal of the season and 20th career goal.
- Ryan O'Hara scored his ninth goal of the season and now tallies 16 points on the season, leading the Falcons in point production. O'Hara also tallied an assist on the first Nodler goal recording his fifth two-point game of the season.
- Gustav Stjernberg tallied two assists on the night, marking his sixth assists of the season. Stjernberg also recorded his first two-assist game as a Falcon.
- Cole Moore recorded 34 saves on the night which tallies his sixth game with 30 or more goals.
