Falcons To Face Kansas City In Saturday Showdown At Stroh

BOWLING GREEN, Ohio - The Bowling Green State University men's basketball team will continue their five-game homestand on Saturday (Dec. 16), hosting the Kansas City Roos. The Falcons and Roos are set for a 2 p.m. tip inside the Stroh Center for the second meeting all-time between the two programs.
Opening Tip
The Falcons and Roos are scheduled to play for just the second time in program history with the first meeting coming during the 2016-17 season, seeing KC win 71-69 with the go-ahead basket coming with just 2.2 seconds left. The game against Kansas City will mark the second of five straight home games for the Falcons. Riding a four-game winning streak, the Falcons are off to their best start to a season at 6-3 since beginning the 2020-21 campaign 7-2.

Scouting The RoosÂ
Kansas City will enter the game against the Falcons with a 5-6 record on the season, including victories in their last two contests. The Roos are coming off back-to-back wins, first topping Lindenwood, 72-67, on Dec. 9 before besting Tabor, 80-57, on Dec. 12. KC has also tallied wins over Avila (79-48), Saint Mary (95-42) and Southeast Missouri State (74-44). Kansas City has played two top teams in the country this season, traveling to face Kansas and Baylor. They took on No. 2 Kansas on Dec. 5 and maintained just a -5 scoring margin in the second half of the 88-69 final. KC also played against then-No. 15 Baylor on Nov. 14, falling to the Bears 99-61.
BGSU v. Kansas City, A History
Bowling Green and Kansas City have met just once previously, coming during the 2016-17 season. The Falcons hosted the Roos at the Stroh Center on Nov. 16, 2016 in a game that went down to the wire with a 71-69 final in favor of KC. Kansas City made the go-ahead basket with just 2.2 seconds left to claim the win.Â
Agee Nearing Career MilestoneÂ
After leading the team in scoring against Ohio Dominican with 17 points, Rashaun Agee has accumulated 987 career points across all levels of collegiate basketball. He now stands just 13 away from reaching 1,000 career points. Of his 987 points, 381 have come in the Orange and Brown. During the 2021-22 campaign, Agee tallied 604 with Casper College. His other two points came at New Mexico State in 2020-21. For his entire career, Agee has averaged just over 14 points per game.Â
Dedicated To DefenseÂ
The Falcons have been one of the best teams defensively in the MAC so far this season, giving up just 65.4 points per game, second behind only Ball State (64.9). Additionally, Bowling Green tops the MAC in defensive field goal percentage, holding their opponents to a mark of 40.1%. The next-best mark in the conference is Miami (OH) at 42.6%. Over the last five games, the Falcons have held four opponents to under 40% shooting with an average mark of 36.6% over the five-game stretch.Â
Back On The BoardsÂ
The last time out, the Falcons recorded a season-high 53 rebounds, propelling them to the top of the charts for the Mid-American Conference. As a team, the Falcons are averaging a MAC-best 39.1 rebounds per game with the strength coming on the defensive end. For defensive rebounds, BGSU is averaging a conference-leading 28.9 per game. Rashaun Agee has been leading the charge, averaging 7.1 rebounds per game including 3.3 offensive rebounds per game, which is second in the MAC and tied for 37th in the nation.Â
Here Comes The Weekend
The weekend has been a friend to the Falcons through the first nine games of the season. When playing on Saturday and Sunday, Bowling Green holds a combined record of 5-0 entering the game against Kansas City. Come Monday, the Falcons have been alright as well with a 1-0 record. However, during games played from Tuesday-Friday, the Orange and Brown are 0-3.Â
