Date Night At The Stroh: BGSU To Host CMU For Valentine's Day Clash

BOWLING GREEN, Ohio - The Bowling Green State University men's basketball program will play host to the Central Michigan Chippewas on Tuesday (Feb. 14) for the first of two consecutive home games for BGSU. The Falcons and Chippewas are scheduled for a 7 p.m. tip at the Stroh Center with the game being available to watch on ESPN+. Fans can tune in to the action via WFRO Eagle 99. Tuesday will mark the 86th meeting all-time, and the second this season, between Bowling Green and Central Michigan. BGSU leads the all-time series with a record of 45-40, including having won three of the last four meetings. The Falcons are also 25-15 when hosting the Chippewas. In the first meeting, the Falcons picked up an 83-61 victory on the road. Leon Ayers III led the team with 24 points while Samari Curtis added 19 points and six rebounds. Chandler Turner chipped in nine points and seven rebounds.Â
At The Game
Tuesday night's game will be Date Night at the Stroh Center. Fans can buy one ticket, get one free to the game. BGSU will welcome back former Falcon and current member of the Birmingham Squadron Daeqwon Plowden to the Stroh Center during the game as well.Â

Scouting The ChippewasÂ
Since the last meeting between BGSU and CMU, Central Michigan has gone 2-3 with a 70-69 win over Western Michigan and a 66-60 final at Miami (OH). Over the five games, Central has been paced by Brian Taylor, averaging 17.4 points and 5.6 rebounds per game. During MAC play, Taylor is sixth in the conference for rebounds per game with a mark of 6.8 and seventh for assists (4.0).Â
Tale Of Two Teams From The FieldÂ
During MAC play, the Falcons have been one of the top shooting teams in the conference while the Chippewas have been near the bottom. In conference competition, BGSU is shooting a clip of 48.0% from the field, ranking second in the MAC, and a conference-best 39.0% from behind the arc. As for Central Michigan they rank last in field goal percentage (40.4%) and 11th for three-point percentage (30.5%).Â
Home Cooking For The FalconsÂ
When playing at home this season, Bowling Green has four players averaging double-digits in the scoring column. Leon Ayers III leads the way with 18.0 points per game, followed by Kaden Metheny (12.0), Rashaun Agee (11.4) and Samari Curtis (10.0). The Falcons also have three players shooting above 50% from the field at home with Ayers (50.3%), Agee (52.1%) and Sam Towns (61.4%).Â
Turner Turning It OnÂ
Over the last five games, Chandler Turner is averaging 11.8 points, scoring double-digits in four of the five contests, including a season-high 21 against Northern Illinois. Turner began the stretch with a double-double (12 points, 10 rebounds) against Toledo and is averaging a team-high 6.2 rebounds over the span. The surge on the boards has raised Turner's average during MAC play to 6.4 rebounds per game, which ranks ninth in the conference and leads the Falcons.Â
20-Point GameÂ
Through the first 22 games of the season, just two Falcons had registered 20-point games. Leon Ayers III had tallied 11 while Kaden Metheny logged three. However, over the last three games two more Falcons have joined the fold. Against Northern Illinois, Chandler Turner produced his second career 20-point game, scoring 21 in addition to Ayers' 20. Samari Curtis then recorded 20 against Ball State for his fourth career 20-point outing.
