Bowling Green Battles Back Against Bulldogs to Earn CCHA Point

Gresock scores two goals, Barber and Burke each tally two points
BOWLING GREEN, Ohio – The Bowling Green Falcons (14-14-2, 11-9-2 CCHA) battled to a 4-4 tie with the Ferris State Bulldogs (11-13-4, 8-9-3 CCHA) on Saturday (Feb. 4), with the extra CCHA point going to the FSU after their shootout win. Chase Gresock netted two goals for the Orange and Brown, while Nathan Burke and Alex Barber each tallied a goal and assist. The Falcons faced deficits of 2-0, 3-1, and 4-2 before taking the game to overtime and earning a point in the conference standings. Christian Stoever was spectacular in the extra period, making highlight-reel saves to preserve the tie.
Scoring Plays
The Falcons hit the road for the final time this regular season, traveling to Michigan Tech. Bowling Green battles the Huskies at 7:07 p.m. ET on Friday, Feb. 10, then again at 5:07 p.m. ET on Saturday, Feb. 11. Both games will be played at MacInnes Student Ice Arena in Houghton, Mich.

Scoring Plays
- Just over five minutes into the contest, Ferris State scored. Blake Evennou took a shot from the right boards, which was redirected into the net by Nick Nardecchia. The secondary helper went to Zach Faremouth.
- Mitch Deelstra tallied a shorthanded goal in the first for FSU, intercepting a Falcon pass and ripping a shot from the edge of the right circle. The goal was unassisted.
- A few minutes later, Chase Gresock scored an unassisted goal of his own to get the Falcons on the board. A clearing attempt from the Bulldogs ricocheted to Gresock, who whistled a shot from between the circles despite contact from a defenseman.
- In the second period, the Bulldogs added to the lead. A centering pass found the stick of Antonio Venuto, who deflected it to Brenden MacLaren. He fed it to Jason Brancheau, who found twine with a backhanded shot.
- Near the end of the second, Nathan Burke scored a power play goal to spark the Falcons. He redirected a shot from Taylor Schneider, with the puck trickling past the goaltender and a lunging defenseman. Schneider and Alex Barber had the assists.
- In the early minutes of the third, Ferris State struck against with another unassisted goal. Caiden Gault secured a loose puck and fired from the left circle. It hit Stoever high, then flared over his shoulder and across the goal line.
- Gresock answered again for the Orange and Brown, scoring on an odd-man rush. Dalton Norris sent the puck along the boards to Ryan O'Hara, who skated along the left side before pushing it over to Gresock. He fired a top-shelf shot for his second tally of the night.
- Alex Barber tied the game with a power play goal with under five minutes to play. Nathan Burke won a faceoff in the offensive zone, with Zach Vinnell collecting the puck and sending a shot from the blue line. Barber redirected it from the left side of the crease for BGSU's second power play goal of the night.

- Chase Gresock recorded his first two-goal game as a Falcon, giving him five multi-point games this season. The senior has 10 goals and 15 assists for 25 points this season. In his career, he has 45 goals and 53 assists for 98 points.
- Alex Barber notched his eighth multi-point performance of the year, extending his career total to a team-best 26. He has six goals and 14 assists for 20 points this year, with tonight's goal marking his first power play tally of the season. He has a career line of 41 goals and 64 assists for 105 points. He also leads the team in career power play goals with 19.
- Nathan Burke registered his fifth multi-point effort of the season, giving him 10 during his time at BGSU. He has 14 goals and 10 assists for 24 points this year, including a team-best seven power play goals. In his career, he has 43 goals and 32 assists for 75 points, including 15 power play tallies.
- Taylor Schneider logged his 12th assist of the year, giving him 22 points this season. In his career, he has 43 goals and 62 assists for 105 points.
- Ryan O'Hara recorded his 16th assist of the year, putting his season point total at 26. He has a career line of 14 goals and 20 assists for 34 points.
- Zach Vinnell registered his 13th assist of the season, tying Ben Wozney for the lead among defensemen. He has 14 points this year, giving him 38 assists and 47 points in his collegiate career.
- Dalton Norris tallied his eighth assist of the year, extending his point total to nine. He leads all Falcon freshmen in assists and points.
- Christian Stoever made 28 saves in 65 minutes played.
- The Falcons were perfect on the penalty kill for the fourth consecutive game. They also scored a pair of power play goals, putting their season total at 30.
- Austen Swankler was held without a point, ending his outstanding 19-game scoring streak. This was the longest active streak in the nation, with Swankler scoring in every game he appeared in dating back to the Nov. 5 contest against Michigan Tech. During the streak, he tallied 11 goals and 21 assists for 32 points. He currently leads the Falcons in goals (16), assists (23), and points (39), with his assist and point totals also leading the conference. In his career, he has 24 goals and 41 assists for 65 points in 65 games.
