Falcons Fly to Florida for Two Spring Break Matches

BGSU plays Ave Maria on Monday afternoon before battling Providence on Tuesday morning
AVE MARIA, Fla. – The Bowling Green Falcons (4-5, 0-0 MAC) continue non-conference play with their spring break trip to Florida, with matches scheduled against the Ave Maria Gyrenes (1-2, 0-0 Sun) and the Providence Friars (0-8, 0-2 Big East). The Falcons and Gyrenes will battle at 1 p.m. ET on Monday, March 6, with AMU hosting. The following morning (March 7), BGSU and PC will meet for an 8 a.m. ET neutral-site match.

Last Time Out: Falcons Extend Win Streak to Three
The Falcons notched a 4-3 win over Wayne State, extending their win streak to three and dealing the Warriors their first loss. Ioanna Tsadari and Elosie Saraty won in doubles for the third consecutive match, with Saraty also tallying a singles win for the third match in a row. Playing together for the first time in their careers, Maru Poppe and Diana Ivanikhina secured the doubles point with their victory at No. 3. Leticia Fonseca gave the Falcons another singles point, then Ivanikhina closed the day in thrilling fashion with a three-set singles victory at No. 6, which marked her first collegiate singles win.

Ave Maria enters the week with a 1-2 record, with their win coming on March 1 against Davenport. Vitoria Barandas leads the Gyrenes with a 2-1 singles record, as well as a 2-1 doubles record. She has paired with Valentine Colin and Lara Teodoro for his victories. AMU is scheduled to travel to Alabama at the end of the week for three matches against NAIA top-10 opponents.

Providence has an 0-8 overall record, with two of those losses coming in conference play. In their two Big East matches, the Friars have notched the doubles point. The duos of Katie Mulvey/Vannelie Melendez and Lauren Carson/Julia Migliorini won each time. Those pairs also earned wins against Siena.
