The Falcons completed a successful weekend at the rainy Tennessee Invite, held on April 7-8 in Knoxville, Tennessee. Zaresha Neal had another impressive showing, winning the discus and the shot put. Her shot put mark of 16.31m is the best in the MAC this season. For her efforts, she was named MAC Field Athlete of the Week for the second consecutive week, bringing her outdoor season award total to three. The senior has six awards in 2023, putting her career total at eight.
Neal was backed by a fifth-place teammate in each event, with Reagan Emberton placing fifth in the discus and Lane Anderson earning a PR to take fifth in the shot put. Brianna Richard had a PR in the long jump and season-best in the triple jump, finishing in the top-five of both events. Fellow jumper Bianca Staples tied for fourth in the high jump, while Mateya Haintz rounded out a strong weekend from the field athletes with a runner-up finish in the hammer throw. Heptathletes Jenna Lucas and Destiny Fernandes placed fifth and sixth, respectively. Lucas won the shot put and Fernandes had a PR in the 200, with both athletes tying for second in the high jump.
