Breaking Down Bowling Green
The Falcons have gained momentum throughout the month, garnering several season-bests and PRs at last weekend's Jesse Owens Classic in Columbus. During a rainy first night, DaMya Barker had a PR and finished eighth in the 400 hurdles, while Alexis Parchman and Alexsia Davis ran their best non-wind-aided 200 races of the season. On the field side, Mateya Haintz logged her third-best hammer throw mark of the year to place third and Morgan Patterson battled through multiple weather delays to place eighth in the long jump.
The following day featured four PRs, five Falcons adding their name to the record book, and eight season-bests. Brianna Richard had a PR in the long jump to place second in the event. Her mark now leads the MAC and ranks fourth in school history. For her efforts, she earned MAC Field Athlete of the Week for the first time in her career. The Falcons have won MAC Field Athlete of the Week honors in all five of their chances this season, with the previous four going to Zaresha Neal.
Neal had a season-best in the shot put and threw the fourth-best discus mark in program history. DaMya Barker notched another PR, this time in the 100 hurdles. Her time of 14.28 ranks her sixth in school history, while Morgan Patterson's wind-aided time of 14.40 places her fourth among the school's wind-aided rankings. Tianna Mulligan had PR in the 400, with Darian Braddix and Ashley Kisor adding season-best times in the event.
Reagan Emberton had a season-best in the shot put, placing 15th. Finishing 14th in the shot put was Kennedi Bailey, competing outdoors for the second time in her career. Rounding out the shot put results for BGSU was Lane Anderson, who was 22nd. Emberton was also 15th in the discus, where she threw her second-best mark of the year. Jemeila Hunter (100), Izzy Best (800), and Raegan Burkey (800) all ran their second-best times of the season, while Bianca Staples tied for fifth in the high jump to secure her third top-five finish of the outdoor season.
