BOWLING GREEN, Ohio – Former Bowling Green State University gymnast Taylor Jensen is one of two student-athletes that have been selected as recipients of the Chi Alpha Sigma Nick Mourouzis Postgraduate Scholarship for the 2022-23 academic year, as announced by the National College Athlete Honor Society. Emily Bolt of Davenport University shares the honor with Jensen.
"We are extremely proud to award this year's postgraduate scholarships to Taylor and Emily," Kellen Wells-Mangold, executive director of the National College Athlete Honor Society, said. "Both of these student-athletes have demonstrated excellence in competition, the classroom, and the community throughout their collegiate careers. Congratulations to them and to their respective athletics staff members and coaches who supported them along the way."
Jensen (North Prairie, Wis.) punctuated her time on at BGSU by winning the 2023 Mid-American Conference (MAC) championship, the first of her career, on beam with a personal-record score of 9.900. Jensen also finished second on vault to earn All-MAC Tournament distinction. In addition to her athletic achievements, Jensen has been named to the College Sports Communicators' Academic All-District® Team, and received Academic All-MAC Team honors on three occasions in addition to multiple WCGA (Women's Collegiate Gymnastics Association) Scholastic All-America nods. Jensen is set to use her postgraduate scholarship at Georgia Tech in pursuit of a master's degree in architecture with a concentration in high-performance building systems.
First awarded during the 2019-20 academic year, the Nick Mourouzis Postgraduate Scholarship is presented to two Chi Alpha Sigma inductees annually. This year's two $3,500 scholarship recipients were chosen from an impressive field of nominated Chi Alpha Sigma inductees. To be eligible for selection, student-athletes must: be Chi Alpha Sigma inductees from an active chapter of the National College Athlete Honor Society; be seeking their postgraduate degree in the immediate upcoming academic year; be enrolled in a full-time program of studies; have exhausted all athletic eligibility prior to starting graduate-level coursework; and be formally nominated by their respective chapter advisor.
