Falcons Fight Past Mavericks Friday Night

BOWLING GREEN, Ohio - The Bowling Green Falcons (8-16-0, 6-7-0 CCHA) saw success on the ice against the Minnesota State Mavericks (11-9-3, 7-5-1 CCHA) in an exciting 4-3 win in Slater Family Ice Arena, Friday night. The Mavericks started off the scoring and Jaden Grant responded, going into the second period tied. Spencer Kersten kept the momentum going for the Falcons with a power-play goal, which Minnesota State responded to quickly after. Owen Ozar scored an exciting goal to give Bowling Green the lead, going into the third period. Minnesota State tied the game early in the third and Ethan Scardina scored the game-winning goal for the Falcons with 1:01 left in the game. The Falcons last defeated the Mavericks in November of 2019, in an overtime win in Mankato.

Scoring Plays
- Sam Morton started the scoring at 14:22 in the first period. Morton found the puck from Luc Wilson off to the left of the goal and pushed it past Moore for a 1-0 score.
- Jaden Grant started the scoring for the Falcons at 4:18 in the first period, to tie the game up at one. Off the face-off Grant found the puck bouncing in front of the goal and backhanded it past the Mavericks goaltender. Assist came from Quinn Emerson.
- Seth Fyten gave the Falcons their first lead of the game at 17:26 in the second period. Spencer Kersten with the initial shot on the power-play, deflected off Fyten's skate and into the back of the Mavericks net to make the score 2-1. Brett Pfoh recorded the second assist.
- Lucas Sowder tied the game up at 14:03 in the second period. Sowder found the rebound in front the Falcons goal and shot it the back of the net to make the score 2-2.
- Owen Ozar intercepted a pass in the Mavericks zone, late in the second period. Ozar skated down the ice and backhanded the puck past the goal line at 3:57 in the second period to take the lead going into the third.
- Brian Carrabes scored the first goal of the third period at 19:41. Carrabes found a pass in the face-off circle and shot it past Moore to tie the game, 3-3.
- Ethan Scardina scored the game-winning goal at 1:03 in the third period. Scardina found a pass up the ice from Kersten and scored on an open lane, to end the game 4-3.
- Jaden Grant scored his third goal of the season and sixth career goal. Quinn Emerson recorded his second assist of the season and sixth career.
- Seth Fyten tallied his third goal of the season and 12th career. Spencer Kersten recorded the first assist, his thid in the Orange and Brown and 26 career. Brett Pfoh tallied the second assist, recording his fourth of the season and seventh career.
- Owen Ozar recorded his fifth career goal and fourth as a Falcon.
- Ethan Scardina scored his third career game-winning goal and second of the season. Scardina tallied his second goal of the season and 19th of his career. Kersten tallied another assist, recording as his fourth on the season. Ben Wozney tallied the second assist, which was his seventh of the season and 24th career.
