Otten Tallies 30 Assists, Sets BGSU Attack To .337 Clip
BOWLING GREEN, Ohio – The Bowling Green State University volleyball team capped off a strong weekend Saturday night (Oct. 26) with a 3-0 win over Kent State, winning both weekend matches against the Golden Flashes in sweep fashion. The Falcons hit a season-best .337 in the match, led by setter Amanda Otten's 30 assists and three aces. In total, 10 of the 12 Falcons that saw action logged a dig, seven landed a kill, seven recorded an assist and five tallied an ace for the team effort win. The Falcons are now 14-8 on the season with a 9-2 conference record.

How It Happened
Set 1: Bowling Green 25, Kent State 22
- The match started back-and-forth, going to ties at 8-8. A 3-0 run pushed BGSU in front with a 10-8 lead before Kent State tied it again at 10-10.
- The ties carried to 13-13 before back-to-back Bowling Green points made it a 15-13 lead for the Falcons with the media timeout for the set pausing the action.
- Kent State pulled within one, but an Amanda Otten ace extended the Falcon lead to 20-17, resulting in a timeout from the Golden Flashes.
- The trading of points continued to a 23-20 score with Kent State taking their second timeout of the set.
- The Falcons and Flashes went back-and-forth through the end of the set, finishing with a 25-22 score in favor of BGSU.
Set 2: Bowling Green 25, Kent State 15
- The Falcons had a strong start to the set, jumping out to a 6-1 advantage. Kent State chipped away, drawing within two at 9-7.
- Bowling Green worked to rebuild their lead, growing to 15-10 at the media timeout of the set.
- Kent State registered the first two points out of the media break, but a 3-0 Bowling Green burst made it an 18-12 Falcon lead with KSU calling timeout.
- Coming out of the timeout, the Falcons added another three points to the run, making it a 6-0 stretch with a 21-12 lead.
- Bowling Green and Kent State resumed the back-and-forth affair through the end of the set for a 25-15 score and 2-0 match lead for BGSU.
Set 3: Bowling Green 25, Kent State 13
- Kent State landed the first two points of the set, but a 6-0 run for the Falcons propelled BGSU to a 7-3 lead.
- Later in the set, Bowling Green tallied a 4-0 run to push the lead to 12-5 with Kent State taking a timeout.
- Out of the timeout, the run continued for the Orange and Brown with three more points, making it a 7-0 stretch and 15-5 lead.
- The teams went back-and-forth until a 3-0 run for the Falcons pushed the lead to 21-9.
- Bowling Green was able to maintain the lead through the end of the set, claiming a 25-13 score for the 3-0 sweep.

- The Falcons logged a hitting percentage of .337 in the match, a new season-best and the second time this season with a mark above .300, going 2-0 in those matches.
- Alexis Mettille tallied a block assist in the match for the Falcons, giving her 311 career total blocks in the Orange and Brown. The total ties Mettille with Madeline Brandewie (2015-18) for fourth during the program's Rally Scoring Era.
- Amanda Otten set the BGSU attack to their best hitting percentage of the season while logging 30 assists. Otten added three aces, leading the team in the stat for the second time this year. Her stat line continued with five kills on six attempts as well as two digs and a block.
- Jordan Newblatt tallied a team-high 10 kills in the match, her first time leading the team in kills this season. Newblatt finished with 24 attempts and just two errors for a .333 hitting percentage.
- Jessica Andrews led the team in blocks with three block assists and added six kills on 14 attacks, finishing with a .357 hitting percentage.
- Mia Tyler landed nine kills for the Falcons while registering the lone BGSU solo block of the night. Tyler tallied two solo blocks for the weekend and now has five on the season with all five coming over the last eight matches.
- Lauryn Hovey just missed a double-double for the Orange and Brown, logging a team-high 11 digs to go along with nine kills. Hovey added two block assists, two assists and an ace.
- Avery Anders put together a strong stat line for the Falcons, matching her career-highs in assists (3) and aces (2) while adding six digs.
- Lindsey LaPitna contributed in multiple ways for the Falcons, finishing with six digs, two assists and an ace in the match.
- With the win, the Falcons have now won 10 straight over the Golden Flashes, including 18 of the last 19 meetings.
