Falcons Fall in Overtime in Hard Fought Game to #15 Minnesota State, 3-2

MANKATO, Minn. – The Bowling Green Falcons (5-7-2, CCHA 2-4-2) fell to the #15 Minnesota State Mavericks (12-4-2, 7-1-2) by a score of 3-2 in overtime. In the loss, sophomore Ben Doran recorded his third goal of the season and senior Ryan O'Hara extended his team leading 10 assists.
Notables
The Falcons will be back at home next weekend, Dec. 14-15 for a conference series against the Northern Michigan Wildcats.

- Sophomore Brandon Santa Juana was back in the lineup for his third game of the season .
- The Falcons struck first at 3:46 in the first period, when junior Quinn Emerson found Sophomore Ben Doran in the slot to make it 1-0.
- The lead would not last long as 18 seconds later the Mavericks would find the equalizer.
- Through the 1st period, the Bowling Green was leading in the three categories: shots 15-11, shots on goal 7-4 and face-offs 8-5.
- Just over halfway through the second period, Minnesota State would double their goal total to make it 2-1.
- At the end of the 2nd period, the Falcons were outshooting the Mavericks 36-25.
- BGSU would start the third period on a power-play after Minnesota State committed a slashing penalty with about one minute left in the second period, but the Falcons were unable to find the equalizer
- About a minute and a half into the third, junior Eric Parker, behind the net, found junior Jaden Grant for a quick snapshot in front of the net to tie it at 2-2.
- With just under three minutes left in the regulation, sophomore Cole Moore made a spectacular blocker save to help force overtime.
- In overtime, senior Ryan O'Hara took a penalty to help prevent a breakaway for the Mavericks.
- Minnesota State capitalized on the man-advantage scoring the game-winner at 1:34 into the extra period.
