BGSU Men's Hoops To Resume MAC Play Saturday Against Eastern Michigan

Falcons, Eagles Set For 3:30 p.m. Tip In Ypsilanti
YPSILANTI, Mich. - The Bowling Green State University men's basketball team will continue their road trip with their second of three straight games away from the Stroh Center. BGSU will be taking on Eastern Michigan on Saturday (Feb. 17) in Ypsilanti for a 3:30 p.m. tip. The game will be broadcasted on ESPN+ with a radio stream available through WFRO Eagle 99.Â

The Falcons and Eagles will be playing for the 101st time this season with BGSU leading the all-time series 57-43 and EMU holding the advantage when hosting 23-22. Bowling Green won the first meeting between the teams earlier this season with a 92-90 victory in overtime at home. The game will feature the top two scorers in the MAC with BGSU's Marcus Hill topping the list (21.5 points per game) followed by EMU's Tyson Acuff (21.3). BGSU has won the last nine meetings, the longest winning streak in the series for either team.

EMU has lost nine of their last 10 with the lone win coming in a 75-65 final against Buffalo. EMU is paced by Tyson Acuff who is averaging 21.3 points per game, second in the MAC and 10th in the nation. Acuff is also fourth in the nation for field goal attempts and 13th in field goals made. The Eagles also have the sixth-best three-point shooter in the MAC with Yusuf Jihad shooting 41.9% from deep. Orlando Lovejoy is fifth in the MAC for steals per game (1.5) as well.Â

He needs to reach 299 to break into the Top 10 all-time for rebounds in a single-season, trailing Rex Leach's 1956-57 campaign. As for Hill, he has 517 points this year and needs 600 to enter a three-way tie for ninth all-time, 601 for eighth and 604 for seventh. He is currently 83 points away from the list.Â

Jason Spurgin is closing in on reaching 1,000 career points, currently with 940. Spurgin needs just 60 to join the club and is currently averaging 11.2 points per game with seven games left in the regular season. With Bowling Green, Spurgin has tallied 268 points this season. Before BGSU, he recorded 672 points over three seasons with Southern Utah.Â
Agee Enters National Rankings
Rashaun Agee has been on a tear for the Falcons over the last 16 games. During that stretch, he has logged 11 double-doubles for the Orange and Brown, tied for 18th in the nation and second in the MAC. Agee has also raised his rebound average to 9.2 per game, second in the conference and 38th in the nation. His 3.5 offensive rebounds per game, though, top the MAC rankings and comes in 20th in the nation. His 220 rebounds total are also tied for 40th in the nation.
Working For The Weekend
The game against Eastern Michigan will mark the final Saturday contest of the regular season for the Falcons on the schedule. The next three weekends, BGSU will play on Friday night, hosting Toledo on ESPNU on Feb. 23 and then taking on Ohio on CBSSN on March 1 before concluding the regular season against Ball State on March 8. The two nationally televised games brings BGSU's total to three this season, the most since the 2020-21 campaign.
