The Falcons and Bobcats are scheduled for a 6 p.m. tip at the Convocation Center with the game being aired on CBS Sports Network, the lone national TV selection of the night for the Mid-American Conference. The game will also be available to stream via radio through WFRO Eagle 99.
Opening Tip
The Falcons and Bobcats will be playing for the 155th time in program history and second time this season. Bowling Green holds the all-time advantage with a record of 85-69, but Ohio has the edge when hosting the series at 45-30. Bowling Green won the first matchup this season, 83-78, on Jan. 9 in Bowling Green. The Falcons can clinch a spot in the MAC Tournament for the first time since 2020-21 with a win Friday and a Ball State loss Saturday.
A Bowling Green Win Would…
Scouting The BobcatsÂ
Since the last meeting with BGSU, Ohio has posted a record of 9-4 and have won their last three contests, topping Kent State, Northern Illinois and Akron while also falling to Toledo by just two. The stretch has moved the Bobcats into a tie for third in the MAC standings with Central Michigan. During the last four games, OU has been paced by nearly five double-digit scoring averages. AJ Clayton (14.5), Jaylin Hunter (14.0), Miles Brown (12.0) and Aidan Hadaway (11.5) are above the mark with Shereef Mitchell (9.8) right behind.Â
BGSU v. Ohio, A HistoryÂ
The matchup between BGSU and Ohio will mark the 155th all-time with BGSU leading the all-time series 85-69. The Bobcats hold the advantage when hosting with a standing of 45-30. The Falcons won the matchup between the teams earlier this season and have won three of the last four meetings. When the two teams met on Jan. 9, the Falcons saw all five starters reach double-digit points, led by Trey Thomas' 20. Rashaun Agee added a double-double with 12 points and a career-high 15 rebounds.
National TV SpotlightÂ
The Falcons have another game coming up on national TV. BGSU will face Ohio on March 1 on CBS Sports Network, the third nationally televised game for BGSU this season, the most nationally televised games for Bowling Green in a season since having four during the 2020-21 campaign. The Falcons played against Akron on CBSSN and hosted Toledo on ESPNU, topping the Rockets but falling to the Zips for a 1-1 national TV record this year.Â
MAC Tournament WatchÂ
The Falcons are currently attempting to clinch a spot in the MAC Tournament for the first time since the 2020-21 season. Bowling Green needs a win and a Ball State loss to officially punch their ticket to Cleveland. Akron, Toledo, Central Michigan and Ohio have clinched spots already. The Orange and Brown missed a spot in the MAC Tournament each of the last two seasons, finishing both seasons in ninth with eight teams advancing to Cleveland.Â
Hill Closes In On Top 10 All-TimeÂ
Marcus Hill has recorded 590 points so far this season for the Falcons, the 15th-most points in the nation. The mark has Hill on the cusp of entering the BGSU record book for points in a single season. He needs 10 more to hit 600 and move into a tie for ninth all-time, 11 more for 601 and a tie for eighth and 14 more for 6-4 and a tie for seventh. A 30-point game would give him sole possession of sixth, passing Justin Turner's 619 points from 2018-19.Â
Agee Nearing Record Book NumbersÂ
Rashaun Agee is nearing the Top 10 in the record book for single-season rebounds. So far this season, Agee has tallied 271 rebounds for the Falcons and needs 28 more to enter the record book. He needs to reach 299 to break into the Top 10 all-time for rebounds in a single-season, trailing Rex Leach's 1956-57 campaign. This year, Agee has 14 double-doubles, tied for 12th in the nation. His 9.7 rebounds per game are also 24th in the country and his 3.68 offensive rebounds are 15th.
Any Given DayÂ
Bowling Green enters the game against Ohio with a 2-3 record when playing on Friday this season. A win would bring BGSU's Friday record to .500, granting the Orange and Brown a standing of .500 or better on every day of the week this season. BGSU is currently 1-0 on Monday, 6-4 on Tuesday, 2-3 on Friday, 6-3 on Saturday and 2-1 on Sunday. The Falcons have not played a game on Wednesday or Thursday this season.Â
