BGSU-NIU – HOW IT HAPPENED
• The Huskies got on the board with a run in the top of the first inning. Ellis Erickson led off the game with a double, and after BGSU starting pitcher Taylor Turner struck out Jenna "No Relation" Turner, Danielle Stewart singled to drive home the game's first run.
• In the second, an error allowed Avery Carnahan to reach base to begin the inning. Carnahan advanced one base each on back-to-back groundouts, but a blooper off the bat of Katy Ramage landed just inside the foul line in shallow right for a two-out single, as the Huskies doubled the lead.
• Stewart helped her own cause with a one-out homer in the third inning, and NIU got another run in the fourth when Alana Powell singled, stole  second, took third on a grounder and scored on a squeeze bunt by Ramage.
• Emma Denison worked a scoreless fifth inning in the circle for the Falcons, allowing just one runner on a hit batter. But, NIU scored an unearned run in the sixth. Caitlyn Shumaker singled and wound up scoring on an Avery Carnahan hit later in the inning.
• In the seventh, the Huskies tacked on two runs with hits by Erickson, Turner and Shumaker in the inning.
• Meanwhile, Stewart faced just one batter over the minimum, as she issued a two-out walk to Taylor Behrendt in the third inning.
• Arguably BG's best chance for a hit in the game came in the fourth inning, as Peyton Dolejs led off by lofting a ball toward shallow left-center. But, centerfielder Erickson made a diving catch on the play.
• Stewart threw 67 of her 98 pitches for strikes, walking just the one batter while striking out 11.
• At the plate, four different Huskies had two hits apiece. Ramage and Stewart each drove in two runs while Erickson scored twice.
