Falcon Hockey to Open CCHA Play in Sault. Ste Marie
October 23, 2025 | Ice Hockey
SAULT. STE MARIE, Mich. – The Bowling Green State University ice hockey team will open its CCHA schedule with an away series at Lake Superior State on Oct. 24-25. Puck drop for Friday's matchup is slated for 7:07 pm on Midco Sports Plus.
After a slow start to the season offensively in their opening series against Niagara, the Falcon offense found its feet this past weekend as they put six past Windsor University in an exhibition game. Six different goalscorers found the net in the contest, including defensemen Ivan Korodiuk and Brayden Crampton. Also finding the net on Friday was forwards Noah Morneau, Jaden Grant, Jackson Niedermayer and Dominik Rymon.
The Falcons will have a much tougher task on their hands this weekend, as the hard-nosed, physical and fast-paced CCHA action begins. This weekend's matchup marks the 195th game between the Falcons and the Lakers, a storied rivalry that began over 50 years ago. Speaking on his players' adjustment to CCHA action, coach Williams said "I need our team to play a much heavier, hard-nosed style game inside the dots. We have to be difficult to play against."
The Lakers come into this weekend's matchup 2-2 in non-conference play, as they swept Stonehill College in Boston on Oct. 4-5, but were then swept by Lindenwood in Sault Ste. Marie the following weekend. Last weekend, they visited Plymouth, Mich. for exhibition matchups against the US National Team Development Program U-18 team and Simon Fraser, winning 6-2 and 3-2 respectively.
Following Friday's matchup, the Falcons and Lakers will play again on Saturday, Oct. 25, with puck drop scheduled for 6:07 pm. Bowling Green will look to continue building momentum leading up to their regular season home opener on Friday, Oct. 31 against Bemidji State. This weekend's series, along with CCHA action all season long, will be available on Midco Sports Plus, the official streaming home of the CCHA. This weekend's radio broadcasts will be available on 99.5 YES FM. Live scoring for Friday's contest will be available here, and live updates will be provided via X.
