Falcons, Bulls Set For Pair Of Matches In Buffalo To Conclude Regular Season
BUFFALO, N.Y. – The Bowling Green State University volleyball team will conclude the regular season this weekend with a pair of matches against the Buffalo Bulls. The Falcons and Bulls will begin the weekend on Friday (Nov. 14) with a 6 p.m. start before wrapping up the regular season on Saturday (Nov. 15) at 4 p.m. For Bowling Green, BGSU enters the weekend tied for sixth in the MAC standings, aiming to clinch a spot in the MAC Tournament. Both matches between the Falcons and Bulls will be available to stream on ESPN+.

Brushing Up On The Bulls
The Buffalo Bulls enter the weekend with a 6-10 MAC record while being 9-16 on the season. Buffalo is coming off a split weekend with Toledo, winning in five sets on Friday (Nov. 7) before falling in three sets on Saturday (Nov. 8). Six of Buffalo's last seven matches have been either a win or gone to five sets with the three-set loss to Toledo being the outlier. Buffalo split with Northern Illinois (Oct. 31-Nov. 1), winning a three-setter but falling in five. They had mirroring results against Eastern Michigan the week before (Oct. 23-24) with a five-set loss to Akron on Oct. 28.
BGSU vs. Buffalo, All-Time
The Falcons and Bulls have met 53 times previously in program history with the Falcons holding the all-time advantage at 43-10. As for matches played in Buffalo, the Falcons hold a record of 18-6 against the Bulls. Additionally, Bowling Green has won the last 12 meetings between the two, going back to the 2019 season. The last win for Buffalo in the series came on Nov. 8, 2019 with a 3-1 final in Buffalo. Of the 12 wins for the Falcons during the winning streak, 10 have come via sweep with the two outliers being a five-set match in 2022 at Buffalo and a four-set match in 2023 at BGSU.
MAC Tournament Scenarios
For the Falcons, the team is fighting for a spot in the MAC Tournament during the final weekend of the regular season. BGSU enters tied with Akron for sixth in the standings, but could climb as high as fourth or fall as low eighth with much of the standings still undecided. For tiebreakers, the MAC will utilize a new system this year. The first step will be winning percentage against tied teams. The second step will be using the KPI Conference Rankings found at Faktorsports.com. Entering the weekend, the Falcons rank sixth in the KPI.
Otten Filling The Stat Sheet
In the five-set comeback victory over Akron, Amanda Otten missed a triple-double by a single dig, finishing with 45 assists, 11 kills and nine digs. While Otten was a dig short of what would have been her third career triple-double, she did manage to log her team-leading eighth double-double of the season. Over the last five matches, Otten has registered three double-doubles since her return to the lineup. Over the five-match stretch, Otten has totaled 145 assists, 46 digs and 15 kills for the Falcons.
Andrews Moving Up Record Book
Jessica Andrews once again moved up in the BGSU record books. With nine total blocks over the two matches, Andrews pushed her career total blocks to 449. The mark moved her past Lori Hilton for seventh on the all-time blocks list. Andrews is now third during the Rally Scoring Era for all career block marks with 56 solo, 393 block assists and 449 total blocks. As for the all-time lists, her 393 block assists rank fifth in addition to her now seventh spot for total blocks.

As a unit, the Falcons rank third in the MAC during the conference schedule for blocks per set, averaging 2.34 per set. Similarly, the Falcons are third in the MAC during the conference slate for opponent hitting percentage, holding MAC opponents to a mark of .182.
