Falcons Head To Davidson In Battle Of Unbeatens For First Road Trip

BGSU, Davidson Set For 6 p.m. Tip Saturday
DAVIDSON, N.C. - The Bowling Green State University men's basketball team will take to the road for the first time during the 2025-26 campaign, heading to face the Davidson Wildcats on Saturday (Nov. 15). Bowling Green and Davidson are scheduled for a 6 p.m. tip with both teams currently 3-0 to start the year. The game between the Falcons and Wildcats will be available to stream on ESPN+ with a radio feed from Todd Walker available on WFRO Eagle 99.
Opening Tip
The Falcons will hit the road for the first time this season, heading to face Davidson for the fourth meeting all-time between the teams. Davidson won a tight matchup between the two last year in Bowling Green. Both Bowling Green and Davidson head into the weekend matchup with undefeated 3-0 records to begin the season.BGSU currently leads the nation in two stats, being steals per game (17.3) and turnovers forced per game (25.0). This comes after the Falcons swiped a program and MAC record 27 steals against Bethany College while forcing 33 turnovers.
A Bowling Green Win Would…
Campbell Stealing The Show
Last year, Javontae Campbell broke the program's single-season steals record with 90. Now three games into the 2025 season, Campbell is on pace to shatter that mark. So far, Campbell has swiped 17 steals in three games, leading the nation for both total steals and steals per game. The mark comes after Campbell tallied eight steals against Le Moyne, tying the program's single-game steals record as the fifth Falcon all-time to have eight in a game. With 107 over his BGSU career, Campbell needs 152 total to break into the program's top 10 for career steals. He also contributed five to BGSU's 27 steals against Bethany, not only a program record, but a MAC record as well.
Scouting The Wildcats
Like the Falcons, Davidson heads into the weekend with a 3-0 record so far on the season, but their margin of victory has decreased each game. Davidson began with a 34-point win over DeSales on Nov. 3 before hosting Washington State on Nov. 7, recording a 16-point win. Their last victory came on the road, beating Charlotte on Nov. 11 by seven points to remain undefeated. Statistically, Davidson is led by sixth man Hunter Adam. A redshirt junior guard, Adam is averaging 16.0 points off the bench for the Wildcats.
BGSU vs. Davidson, All-Time
The Falcons and Wildcats will be meeting for the second consecutive season and the fourth time in program history. Bowling Green won the first meeting in overtime in 1986, but Davidson has won the two since. All three games between the two programs have been decided by six points or less. In last year's game, the Falcons were paced by Javontae Campbell with 30 points and four steals. Sam Towns hauled in a team-high 11 rebounds in the game while adding six points and four blocks to the BGSU effort.
Electric Company
The Falcons have come out of the gate with electric play on both sides of the ball, averaging 95.3 points per game while holding opponents to a mark of 57.7. The scoring offense for BGSU entered the week ranked 39th in the country while the defense stood at 25th. With the averages, Bowling Green is one of only five teams in the nation to average 95+ points on offense while also holding opponents under 58 points. The others include Jacksonville State (115.5 offense; 51.0 defense), Kennesaw State (102.7 offense, 53.7 defense) and Georgia (106.0 offense; 56.3 defense).
Double-Digit Scoring Outputs
Through the first three games of the season, Bowling Green has already had nine different players log double-digit scoring efforts, including five different players with multiple. Javontae Campbell, Javon Ruffin and Josiah Shackelford have reached double-digit points in all three games to start the season. Sam Towns and Mayar Wol followed with a pair each. The list rounds out with one from of Troy Glover II, Aiden Goins, Jason Kimbrough Jr. and Camden Karel. Preston Squire did so once last season, giving BGSU 10 current players that have registered a double-digit scoring game in the Orange and Brown.
Start Of Something Good
The Falcons are off to a 3-0 start for just the second time since 1999-00 and are in good company in the feat. The 2014-15 squad for the Falcons finished the season with a 21-12, advancing to the second round of the MAC Tournament. As for the 1999-00, which was captained by now assistant coach Anthony Stacey, the Falcons won the MAC regular season with a 22-8 record while going 14-4 in the MAC. The team also appeared in the NIT.
Falcons Drawing Attention
The strong start to the season for the Falcons has caught attention around college basketball. For the first time since the 2023-24 season, the Falcons are receiving votes in the CollegeInsider.com Mid-Major Top 25. BGSU totaled 40 points in the vote, sitting just outside the top 25 at 30. Currently, there are a total of three teams from the Mid-American Conference in the top 25, led by Akron at No. 6 and followed by Miami (OH) at No. 7 and Kent State at No. 24.
