Bowling Green Sits Fourth After First Day of Magnus

CLEVELAND — Bowling Green opened the Magnus Cup Invitational with a dominant showing on the boards Thursday, placing four athletes in the A-final of the women's one meter dive and earning a win from senior Natalia Mayorga.
Mayorga claimed the event title with a score of 287.05, delivering one of her strongest outings of the season. Freshmen Sadie Dempz (249.00) and Autumn Johnston (246.50) followed in fifth and sixth, both posting season-best marks. Senior Elise Snyder followed in eighth at 234.40. Evie Long added a B-final win with a steady 226.00 to bolster Bowling Green's point total.
The Falcons carried that momentum into the pool during the evening finals session. In the 50 back, senior Emily McNicol took second in 25.01, a new personal best. Freshman Bella Treib placed sixth in 25.75, while juniors Bridget Kurtzweil (26.39) and Alexandra Johnson (26.72) added B-final points. Sophomore Annie Berrow won the C-final in 27.22, a season best.
Bowling Green reached the podium again in the 50 breast, as sophomore Lauren Jablonski recorded a season-best 28.69 to finish runner-up in the A-final and secure another high-value scoring swim for the Falcons. Madison Bond also finished second in the 200 IM with a 2:05.31 in the A-final, while Grace Bodrock took the B-final at 2:05.57.
Through the first day, Bowling Green sits fourth in the women's standings with 256 points. Akron leads with 488, followed by Northern Colorado (371.5) and Xavier (261).
The Magnus Cup continues Friday morning, with prelims beginning at 9 a.m.
