September 04, 2025 | Women's Soccer
BGSU comes from behind to beat a Horizon League team on the road for second-straight Thursday
CORAOPOLIS, Pa. – Junior Isabella Mazzaferro scored just past the hour mark, lifting the Bowling Green University women's soccer team to a 2-1 win over Robert Morris University on Thursday evening (Sept. 4). The non-conference match took place at the Montour Junction Sports Complex.
Fellow junior transfer Ella Kane also scored for the Falcons (4-1-1). Kane's goal came in the 28th minute after the Colonials (2-3-0) had taken the lead just over 10 minutes earlier.
The match, originally scheduled to start at 4:00 p.m. at RMU's North Athletic Complex, was delayed due to weather and was moved to Montour Junction. The contest wound up starting at approximately 7:15 p.m.
The win marked the Falcons' second-straight comeback victory in as many Thursdays. BGSU picked up a 4-1 victory at Detroit Mercy seven days ago (Aug. 28), after trailing at the half.
The hosts had an 8-3 advantage in shots and a 9-1 lead in corner kicks, and RMU took the lead off of one of those corners. Paloma Swankler scored at the 17:20 mark, after a corner kick was headed back across the goalmouth.
But, Kane equalized at the 27:45 mark, with sophomore Haley Wolf assisting. The teams went to halftime knotted up at 1-1.
And, with just under 28 minutes left in the match, Mazzaferro recorded what would prove to be the winning goal. Ellie Pool and Taylor Green had assists on Mazzaferro's winner.
Both goalkeepers – BGSU sophomore Payton O'Malley and RMU's Emma Cameron – had one save on the night.
