How It HappenedÂ
- Like games before, the Falcons started off with smooth skating for the first five minutes before a cross-check against BGSU brought on the first whistle of the game with UConn going on a power play.
- Bowling Green held off the UConn power play, which preceded more scoreless skating in the first period, holding to the end of the first 20 minutes with the teams heading to the locker room at 0-0. Jacob Steinman tallied 14 saves in the frame.Â
- UConn broke the tie, scoring 17 seconds into the second period to take a 1-0 lead.
- The Falcons earned their first power play opportunity with 15:59 on the clock in the second period. Bowling Green capitalized on the chance with Ty Higgins finding the back of the net after strong puck movement, tying the score at 1-1 with assists from Brayden Crampton and Dominik Rymon.Â
- The 1-1 tie held through the end of the period, but after time expired UConn was called for roughing, creating a power play to begin the third period.
- In the final seconds of the power play to start the third period, Tyler Hotson converted a shot off the rebound from a knee to put the Falcons in front, 2-1, with assists credited to Conner Levis and Brody Waters.Â
- With 16:32 on the clock, the Huskies were called for spearing, a five-minute major penalty. However, halfway through the power play, UConn worked out on a break for a short-handed goal, tying the game at 2-2.Â
- The power play continued for the Falcons with Bowling Green reclaiming the lead on a Noah Morneau goal, 3-2. Morneau was assisted on the score by Waters and Levis, the second assists of the night for both players.Â
- Down the stretch, the Huskies pulled their goalie with the Falcons scoring two empty net scores. The first came from Rymon with assists from Brandon Whynott and Morneau while the second being a goal from Morneau with assists from Whynott and Waters.Â
