Scouting The Purple Eagles
Niagara started off the season with a 4-1 win over RIT at home, but have been winless on the road since. The Purple Eagles played a home-and-home against RIT, coming up short in the road portion, 4-2. Niagara then transitioned to a road series at Notre Dame, being swept by the Fighting Irish. The series against Bowling Green will conclude the five-game road swing for Niagara. During the road trip not only are they 0-3, but they've been outscored 11-3, including being shutout by Notre Dame their last time out.
BGSU vs. Niagara, All-Time
The Falcons and Purple Eagles will be meeting for the second series in as many seasons after playing twice last year at Niagara. Last year, Niagara claimed the two meetings and swung the all-time series to their favor with a record of 4-3-2 all-time. All previous nine meetings between the two have been played since 2000. This will also mark the first two-game series playing in Bowling Green in the same season in the history of the series and the first overall game played in Bowling Green since 2012, a game BGSU won 3-0.
Morneau Earns Weekly Award
Noah Morneau earned the CCHA Forward of the Week honor this past week after recording five points over the weekend. Morneau registered a pair of assists against Sacred Heart, assisting on two of BGSU's three goals in the win. He followed it up against UConn with a three-point outing. Morneau recorded two goals and an assist with one goal going down as the game-winner on a power play and the other being an empty netter.
BGSU Breaks Into Rankings
The Falcons earned a spot in the national rankings this week, being ranked No. 18 in the USCHO poll and No. 19 in the USA Today poll. The USCHO ranking is the first top 20 ranking for Bowling Green since April 12, 2021 when they were also ranked 18th. The Falcons are one of three teams ranked in both polls, joined by Michigan Tech and Augustana.Â
Powerful On The Power Play
Bowling Green is quickly establishing themselves as one of the best teams in the nation on the power play. This year, the Falcons have logged six power play goals, all coming from different players. The six goals are second in the nation for team power play goals. As for power play percentage, the Falcons are converting a third of their power plays, ranked sixth in the country and second in the CCHA.Â
Levis Leading The Way
All of last season Connor Levis didn't produce a multi-point game. Now, through four games this year, he already has two. Levis posted a pair of assists against both Sacred Heart and UConn, continuing his point streak to start the season with at least one in each game and six total through the four games. In doing so, Levis is tied for the CCHA lead in points with teammate Noah Morneau, both with six points for the Orange and Brown.Â
Waters On The Power Play
Brody Waters now has 16 career power play goals with the Falcons, including 10 during the 2024-25 campaign. The 2024-25 season for Waters marked the first time a Falcon had double-digit power play goals since both Conner Ford and Max Johnson in 2018-19. For his career, Waters has 30 goals for the Orange and Brown, resulting in just over half of his career goals coming on the power play. Waters is one of six Falcons to log a power play goal this year. Â
