Bowling Green Finishes Third at MAC Championship
March 01, 2026 | Women's Track and Field
MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. — Bowling Green closed the MAC Indoor Championships Saturday, finishing third with 86 points to cap an all-around team performance at Central Michigan's Jack Skoog Indoor Track.
The Falcons leaned on their depth across both the track and field events, collecting points in several disciplines on the final day to secure a spot on the podium.
The afternoon opened in the field, where Sierra Brinson set the tone in the shot put. Her 13.57m toss earned a fifth-place finish and valuable team points. Bowling Green's strength in the jumps followed, as all three Falcons in the triple jump reached scoring position.
Bianca Staples led the way with a fourth-place leap of 12.50m, delivering her top mark on her final attempt and narrowly missing the podium. Sabrina Imes recorded a season-best 12.40m to place seventh, while Kiera Bonds added an eighth-place finish at 12.30m.
On the track, the distance crew continued its strong winter campaign. Kylee Cubbison earned silver in the mile, crossing in 4:45.91 in a tightly contested race. Rachael Hoover followed in sixth at 4:51.65 before returning later in the meet to capture bronze in the 800m with a 2:12.03 performance. Cubbison doubled back in the 3000m, placing fourth in 9:30.25 to add to the Falcons' total.
Bowling Green's sprinters and hurdlers matched that production. Morgan Patterson claimed silver in the 60m hurdles, clocking 8.50 seconds in the final. Reagan Campbell turned in a season-best 56.21 in the 400 meters to finish fourth, while Kiersten Franklin delivered one of the day's most impressive performances in the 60m dash.
Franklin sprinted to a personal-best 7.43 seconds, shaving one-hundredth of a second off her preliminary time to secure silver. The mark keeps her second on Bowling Green's all-time list.
The meet concluded with the 4x400m relay. The quartet of Campbell, Tyyetta Herman, Syerra Greber and Franklin combined for a 3:47.08 effort to finish fourth and seal the Falcons' third-place team result.
Bowling Green left additional points on the track in the 200 meters, where a lane violation resulted in a disqualification.
With indoor slate complete, the Falcons shift their focus to the outdoor season. Bowling Green is scheduled to open the spring on March 20 at the Blizzard Buster, hosted by Miami (Ohio).
