Bowling Green State University women's soccer head coach Chris Fox has announced the addition of Anna Young to his coaching staff. Young, who will be a graduate assistant coach in the 2026-27 academic year, has already begun her duties with the Falcons.
Young, a native of Gaithersburg, Md., was a standout midfielder for a pair of Southeastern Conference programs. She spent four seasons at the University of Kentucky before ending her collegiate career at the University of South Carolina.
"We are excited to add Anna Young to the staff as our Graduate Assistant," said Fox. "Anna's experience as a player at Kentucky and South Carolina gives her a strong understanding of what high-level college soccer looks like and the standards required to succeed.
"Anna will assist with the day-to-day operations of our program while working closely with our field players in training and development.Â
"Throughout the process, we were impressed by her energy, personality, and ability to connect with others. She is someone our players will relate to immediately, and her recent playing experience allows her to provide valuable insight and mentorship."
After playing in one match as a freshman at UK in 2020, Young saw action in 13 contests the following fall, then played in all 37 matches – starting 35 – in her final two years with the Wildcats. She played 1,341 minutes in the 2022 campaign, then led the team with 1,659 minutes played as a senior in 2023.
In that 2023 season, Young was named to the SEC Preseason Watchlist, was named a team captain and started all 19 of UK's matches.
Young played the full 90 minutes in 15 matches, including in each of the final 11 contests of her UK tenure.
After transferring to USC, Young missed the 2024 season due to injury, but made 16 appearances, including five starts, in the 2025 campaign. She scored her first collegiate goal in the Gamecocks' dominant 5-1 win over Texas (Oct. 9).
"I couldn't be more excited to join the Bowling Green women's soccer program and contribute to the success of the team," said Young. "Coach Fox is a highly respected and accomplished coach, and I'm incredibly grateful to be a part of his staff this fall."
After being named to the SEC First-Year Academic Honor Roll in her freshman season at UK, Young was named to the SEC Academic Honor Roll in each of the next five years. She also was a College Sports Communicators Academic All-District selection in 2023.
Young earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Kentucky in December of 2023, as a kinesiology major. At South Carolina, she earned a Master of Science degree in coaching education, with a concentration in mental performance coaching, in December of 2025.
Young earned valuable coaching experience while still attending South Carolina, as she was junior varsity girls coach at Cardinal Newman School in Columbia, S.C., from February of 2024 to April of 2025, then coached the U10 Pre-ECNL squad at South Carolina United FC during the latter part of 2025.
Most recently, Young coached the U12 Academy Team at Juventus Academy DC Metro in Potomac, Md., during the first half of the 2026 calendar year.
She also worked with Lexington Sporting Club while an undergraduate student at UK.
Young has a USSF National D License.
A graduate of Our Lady of Good Counsel High School in Olney, Md., Young earned a veritable plethora of honors for the Falcons. She was a Maryland Association of Coaches of Soccer (MACS) All-State selection as well as a United Soccer Coaches Scholar All-American. Young also earned USC All-Region accolades along with All-Washington Catholic Athletic Conference honors, and was both a team captain as well as her team's MVP in the 2019-20 season.
"Anna is passionate about the game, eager to learn, and committed to helping others grow," said Fox. "We are excited to welcome Anna to Bowling Green and look forward to the positive impact she will have on our program."
