SETTING THE SCENE / FOLLOW THE FALCONS
• The Bowling Green State University men's soccer team, coming off of a five-goal performance in the season opener, begins the road portion of the 2026 campaign this weekend. Head coach Eric Nichols and the Falcons head to Pittsburgh for a Sunday (Aug. 23) match against Duquesne University, with first touch set for 5:00 p.m. at Rooney Field.
I-75 CUP STAYS IN BG
• The Falcons topped Wright State, 5-2, in the season opener at Cochrane Stadium on Thursday (Aug. 20). With the win, BGSU keeps possession of the I-75 Cup, a traveling trophy that goes to the winner of the BGSU-WSU match. The teams have played every year (with the exception of the COVID-shortened 2020-21 season) since Eric Nichols took the helm, and the Falcons are now 11-4-1 vs. the Raiders in the Nichols Era.
TODAY'S PAGE-ONE-WORTHY NOTE
• BGSU got goals from a total of three different players during the entire 2025 season. On Thursday vs. Wright State, three different Falcons scored in the first half alone, with four different players finding the back of the net in the win.
