BGSU Men's Golf Opens Fall Play at Virtues Intercollegiate

NASHPORT, Ohio – The BGSU men's golf team will open off its fall slate this weekend, Aug. 28-29, as they head to Nashport, Ohio to compete in the Virtues Intercollegiate. Bowling Green and Miami (Ohio) are co-hosting the tournament for a fourth consecutive year. and will be three rounds, totaling 54 holes. The tournament will be held at Virtues Golf Club, a par-72, 7,243 yard parkland-style course.
Rounds one and two begin with a shotgun start at 9 a.m. ET on Friday. The tournament will conclude Saturday behind another shotgun 9 a.m. shotgun start.
Bowling Green enters the fall after a fifth-place finish at the Mid-American Conference Championship last spring under head coach John Powers, and the Falcons will lean on a veteran core to open the new season.
Seniors Angelo Luciani and David Chavez headline the group. Luciani, a Byron Center, Michigan, native, closed last season tying for third at the MAC Championships, and Chavez, a Pensacola, Florida, native who transferred from Virginia State, brings a steady scoring presence after two seasons of NCAA Division II experience. Juniors Andrew Lee, Brady Fox, Brayden Larson and Charlie Pettrone and sophomores Pedro Garcia and Leroy Harris round out a roster built for depth, with Lee coming off a top-10 finish at the Bluegrass Collegiate Invitational this spring.
