Mia Ugarte Joins Falcon Program in Time for 2026 Season

Fox, Falcons Add Freshman From Ottawa, Ontario
BOWLING GREEN, Ohio – Bowling Green State University women's soccer coach Chris Fox has announced the addition of Mia Ugarte to the program. Ugarte, a native of Ottawa, Ontario, joins the Falcons for the 2026-27 academic year.
Ugarte, 5-7 forward/midfielder, is a graduate of St. Francis Xavier H.S. She has played for Ottawa Rapid FC in the Northern Super League. Additionally, she represented Canada's U17 National Team at the Four Nations Tournament in Mexico City in the summer of 2025.
Ugarte's playing experience also includes time with Ottawa South United in the Ontario Player Development League.
"Mia arrives with an impressive playing background," said Fox. "Her experience with Canada's Youth National Team and her success at every level speak for themselves. She's a technical player with excellent vision, a quality final pass, and the ability to create and finish chances.
"We believe Mia's versatility as both a striker and attacking midfielder will add another dimension to our attack, and we're excited to welcome her to Bowling Green."
The daughter of Saulo Ugarte and Rosa Chiarello-Ugarte, she has an older brother, Mateo, and a twin brother, Luca.

BGSU finished the 2025 season with an overall record of 10-3-9, and the Falcons went 4-1-7 in Mid-American Conference play. BG finished sixth in the 13-team league, then proceeded to advance past third-seeded Buffalo and second-seeded Miami in the MAC Tournament, making it all the way to the championship match.
Fans can get their first look at the Falcons on Wednesday (Aug. 5), when BGSU hosts Purdue in an exhibition match at Cochrane Stadium. First touch is at 4:00 p.m., and admission is free.
