Using the first string for only the first quarter and part of the second, Bowling Green rolled up 494 yards, 338 on the ground and 156 in the air. In the first half they were virtually unstoppable as they scored every time they got the ball; they led at the half, 43-0.

Seven players, Bernie Casey, Jim Andrews, Larry Smith, Dave McClain, Jim Potts, Jack Harbaugh and Bob Reublin, crossed the end zone stripe. Chuck Comer, who entered the game with a 9.9 rushing average, picked up 70 yards on 7 carries, 36 on a scamper in the first quarter. Bob Colburn enjoyed another good day, completing 5 of 6 passes for 56 yards. Ed Phillips was the only major casualty, suffering a knee injury which will keep him out of action for two or three weeks.
On defense the Falcons held TU’s running attack to a minus 10 yards rushing. The Guerillas lived in Toledo’s backfield, either dumping Rocket quarterbacks for losses or stopping their fullback duo in their tracks.
Coach Perry was well pleased with the performance of the first two units. He commented that his pass defense will need work.
