With any coaching change, the team can be nervous about the new coach. How has the team reacted to your style of leadership?
I am very fortunate to be able to coach a great group of women. They have been very open and receptive to the change.
Â
You have started your coaching career at BGSU by going 7-0 in your first seven meets. Congratulations! How does that happen?
There is a lot of talent on our team. The women have worked hard and have trusted my leadership and coaching. They have also learned to trust each other and understand that the better they are individually, the better we are as a team.

How does a young man from growing up in football crazed Midland, Texas become a swimmer?
I played football and basketball up until 9th grade. I also had some friends on the swim team. They asked me to try out for the team. I fell in love with the sport.
How did you select Alaska-Anchorage to attend college?
I’ve always wanted to go to Alaska since I was a kid. I remember reading Call of the Wild when I was young, it stuck with me.

Why are scholarships important for you and your team?
My goal is to win the MAC and to get BGSU Swimming and Diving into the national spotlight. To do this we must recruit the best student-athletes locally, domestically and internationally to represent BGSU Swimming and Diving. Scholarships are vital to this process.
