Megan Van Tatenhove was hired in Nov. of 2019 as an Academic Coordinator for Student-Athlete Services. She will serve as the advisor for men’s and women’s basketball, baseball, gymnastics, and women’s tennis.
Van Tatenhove came to Bowling Green from Owens Community College where she served as the academic advisor for students interested in their nursing program.
Prior to Owens, Van Tatenhove was the academic advisor for student athletes at Cleveland State University, Siena College, and St. Bonaventure University. She assisted in the registration of incoming and returning student-athletes, monitored student-athlete academic progress, and oversaw the functions and budgets of study hall and tutoring programs.
As a student-athlete, Van Tatenhove was a basketball standout St. Bonaventure. After earning Wisconsin State Player-of-the-Year honors in high school, she helped the Bonnies to the WNIT in 2009, her freshman season.
Van Tatenhove then established herself as one of the top players in the Atlantic 10 Conference, earning all-conference honors three years in a row. In her senior season (2011-12), she helped lead the Bonnies to a perfect 14-0 regular season record n the A-10 and a #4 seed in the NCAA Tournament. SBU advanced to the Sweet 16 and finished the year at 31-4, setting a school record for wins.
Van Tatenhove completed her career with 1,453 points and 624 rebounds, and ranks sixth on SBU's all-time scoring list. The Bonnies won at least 21 games and reached the postseason in every season of Van Tatenhove’s career.
Originally from Sheboygan Falls, Wis., Van Tatenhove earned a bachelor’s degree in elementary education and a master’s degree in literacy at St. Bonaventure in 2012 and 2015, respectively.
