Moment No. 5 From 2009-10: Falcons Retain Peace Pipe With Win Over Toledo
July 12, 2010 | General
Throughout the summer, we'll be releasing our list of the Top 10 Moments of the 2009-10 athletic year at BGSU. The list was compiled and voted on by members of the Athletics Department administration and the Athletic Communications office. We'll release the list one at a time until announcing the No. 1 moment of the year on Aug. 2. Today, we look back at our No. 5 moment of the year.
Falcons Retain Peace Pipe With 38-24 Win Over Toledo
Bowling Green blocked two first-quarter punts, jumped out to a 24-0 lead, and never looked back as the Falcons beat Toledo for the third year in a row to retain the Peace Pipe Trophy. Running back Willie Geter rushed for 114 yards and three touchdowns as the Falcons clinched a bid to a bowl game with the win. The Falcons scored 24 first-quarter points and three of those four scoring drives took less than two minutes. Although Toledo tried to battle back into the game, Geter's 61-yard romp in the fourth quarter sealed the victory.
