Lyndsey Clark
- Title:
- Volunteer Assistant Softball Coach
Lyndsey Clark, a Bowling Green State University graduate, recently wrapped up her first season on the staff of head coach Sarah Willis at her alma mater.
“I am very honored to be a part of the coaching staff at BGSU,” said Clark. “I can not thank Coach Willis enough for giving me this great opportunity to work with the program and grow as one.”
In 2017, Clark's first year with the Falcons, the team was picked to finish sixth (i.e., last) in the East Division in the preseason coaches' poll. But, BG was in the race for a MAC Tournament berth until the final day of the regular season.
BGSU won six more games in 2017 than in '16, and the team's MAC win total was four victories higher than the previous year. BG went 24-32 overall and 10-14 in league action, and the Falcons finished as close to first place as to last place in the East Division.
BGSU nearly tripled the home win total from the previous year, despite playing fewer games at Meserve Field. The Brown and Orange went 8-3 at Meserve in 2017 after posting a 3-11 home mark in '16.
BGSU's 2017 victories included a 3-2, neutral-site win over Oklahoma State, a team that won 38 games, advanced to an NCAA Regional and finished the year ranked 25th in the nation.
Clark, a native of Wayne, Ohio, has been coaching softball at various levels since 2010. She is a graduate of Elmwood High School, where she played softball until suffering a season-ending injury as a senior.
A 2011 graduate of Elmwood, she began her coaching career at the youth level, coaching in recreational leagues as well as guiding a middle-scool team. Clark was the head junior-varsity coach at Elmwood in 2015-16, and also was an assistant coach with the varsity program. She also has coached the NWO Heat 12U travel-ball team.
Clark graduated from BGSU in December of 2016, earning her bachelor’s degree from the College of Education and Human Development in Individualized Studies, with a strong concentration in sport management.
