Kellie Evans was named the interim head coach of the Bowling Green State University women’s soccer program in February of 2012. Evans, who came to Northwest Ohio in April of 2011, was a BGSU assistant coach for the 2011 season prior to assuming the interim role.
Evans joined the Falcons after two seasons at Illinois State University. She helped the Redbirds to a 12-7-1 record and both the Missouri Valley Conference regular-season and tournament championships in 2009. Evans and the rest of the staff were voted the MVC Coaching Staff of the Year.
In 2010, ISU went 9-7-2 overall, advancing to the semifinal round of the conference tournament before being eliminated via penalty kicks.
In the Fall 2010 semester, the Redbirds achieved an Illinois State athletics department-record 3.69 grade-point average, with 23 student-athletes posting a semester GPA of 3.50 or better, including 11 that recorded a perfect 4.00 GPA.

It is clearly an exciting time to be a part of Bowling Green Athletics, and I could not be more excited about the opportunity.”
Prior to her time in Normal, Ill., Evans was an assistant coach at Nichols School in Buffalo, N.Y. She went to Nichols after spending two years as an assistant coach at Oregon State University.
Evans gained coaching experience as a volunteer assistant coach at Huntingdon College in Montgomery, Ala., in 2006, and also has coached at the high-school and club levels. She served as the head coach for Hillsborough County United U9 & U14 in Tampa, Fla., from 2006-07, and also was an assistant coach at Durant High School in Plant City, Fla. At the club level, Evans worked with the Florida Olympic Development Program (ODP). She earned her National Soccer Coaches Association of American (NSCAA) National Diploma in 2010.
Evans was a standout soccer player at Auburn University from 2000-03, leading the Tigers to three NCAA Tournaments and the 2002 Southeastern Conference championship. Evans set the school record for assists in a season, with 13 in 2000, and ranks second in school history with 30 career assists. She was named to the SEC’s All-Tournament Team, and was named a Freshman All-American by Soccer Buzz in 2000.
In the classroom, Evans was also an Academic All-SEC selection, made the SEC Scholar-Athlete Honor Roll and earned a TOP Tiger Scholar-Athlete Award. A native of Brandon, Fla., she earned her bachelor’s degree in public relations from Auburn in 2004.
