*** NOTE: Brooks was named the head women's basketball coach at SUNY Cortland on June 26, 2018 ***
Jacey Brooks recently completed her fifth season as an assistant coach on the women's basketball staff at Bowling Green . Head coach Jennifer Roos announced the hiring of Brooks in late May of 2013, and Brooks began her duties with the Falcons on June 4 of that year.
In her first year, Brooks helped the Falcons win 30 games, the second-highest win total in both school and Mid-American Conference history. BGSU won the MAC's regular-season title with a 17-1 league record, and the Brown and Orange won three games in the WNIT for the first time in program history.
In 2014-15, Roos, Brooks and the rest of the staff guided a youthful Falcon squad through an injury-filled season. Four of the 12 student-athletes on the preseason roster, including a pair of starters, had suffered season-ending injuries by the first week of January. A fifth player (and third starter) saw injuries limit her to just 35 total minutes played during the MAC schedule.
In August of 2015, Brooks was one of just 50 coaches across the nation selected to participate in the WBCA's Center for Coaching Excellence's inaugural session for assistant coaches in Atlanta, Ga. She also attended the NCAA/NACWAA Women's Leadership Symposium in Kansas City, Mo., in May of 2016.

Brooks came to BGSU after spending the previous three seasons at Canisius College on the staff of head coach Terry Zeh. While with the Golden Griffins, she primarily worked with the team’s backcourt players while assisting with the day-to-day operations of the program.
Prior to Canisius, Brooks spent three years on Jim Crowley’s staff at St. Bonaventure University. She moved into an assistant coach role for the 2009-10 season after spending two seasons as the director of basketball operations for the Bonnies.
The Bonnies had a record of 23-10 during ‘09-10, tying the school record for wins in a season and making an appearance in the Women’s National Invitation Tournament (WNIT) for the second consecutive year. SBU set or tied the school wins record in each of the three seasons that Brooks was on the staff.
The 2007-08 team began the season with a then program-best 11-2 record, going on to an 18-12 overall mark and a 6-12 record in the Atlantic 10 Conference. The next season, SBU set program marks with 23 overall wins and nine conference victories, going 23-11 on the year and advanced to the WNIT for the first postseason appearance in program history.
In ‘09-10, the Bonnies again went 9-5 in A-10 play. The team opened the season with 11 consecutive wins, the longest winning streak in school history, and finished in the top-10 in the nation in free-throw percentage, three-point field-goal percentage, scoring defense and fewest turnovers.
A native of Machias, N.Y., Brooks was a four-year standout on the women’s basketball team at Buffalo State College. A 2006 graduate of the school with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Health and Wellness, she departed as the program’s fourth all-time leading scorer (1,219 points) and also ranked in the top-10 in school history in rebounds (554, ninth). A two-time All-SUNYAC performer, Brooks helped lead the Bengals to three-straight SUNYAC tournaments.
Brooks has also coached in the Empire State Games, serving as an assistant coach for the Western region in the women’s open division.
She earned her Master’s Degree in Sport Administration from Canisius in May of 2012.
