Paul Landis

Paul Landis, a graduate of Cleveland Lincoln High School, was a four-sport performer at Oberlin College from 1919-23. His first coaching job was in Portsmouth, Virginia, where his football teams were state runners-up two years, and his basketball team won the Eastern Virginia title in 1923. Landis came to Bowling Green in 1925 as head basketball, track, and cross country coach, as well as an assistant football coach to Warren Steller. He coached the Falcon basketball teams for 17 season, winning two Northwestern Ohio Conference championships. Under the leadership of Landis, the Falcons basketball team saw six winning seasons and double digit wins over there opponents. Landis took over the baseball team in 1926, while still coaching the tennis teams as well. While also coaching, he was also an associate professor in physical education. In 1989 Landis was inducted into the Oberlin College Hall of Fame.Â
