He's Back! Trace Terry Returns to Falcons for 2026 Season

BOWLING GREEN, Ohio (BGSU Strategic Comm.) – One of the top strikers in Bowling Green State University men's soccer history has returned to the program, head coach Eric Nichols has announced. Trace Terry has joined the Falcons for the 2026 season.
Terry – a 2024 All-American, a three-time All-Missouri Valley Conference Team selection and a two-time United Soccer Coaches All-Region selection – is one of the top scorers in BGSU history.
A native of Bellbrook, Ohio (Bellbrook H.S.), Terry has scored 69 points in 68 career matches for the Falcons. He is tied for seventh in school history in goals, with 28, and ranks eighth on the BG career points chart. Terry also has 13 assists in his collegiate career to date.
Last season, Terry was directly involved in the scoring of 75 percent Falcons' 16 goals, finding the back of the net 10 times and adding a pair of assists. He started all 17 matches in 2025 and led the Orange and Brown in both goals and points.
Not surprisingly, Terry was named to the 2025 All-MVC First Team, earning all-conference recognition for the third consecutive season. And, he was named to the 2025 United Soccer Coaches All-West Region Second Team, earning all-region accolades for the second-straight campaign.
Four of Terry's 10 goals in 2025 were game-winning goals, a total that led the MVC and tied him for 15th in the nation. Terry also ranked among the top-50 players in the country in shots on goal per game (1.53, 19th), goals per game (0.59, 24th), total goals (28th), points per game (1.29, 35th), total shots per game (36th), shot accuracy (37th) and total points (50th).
Terry had nine points, including four goals, in BGSU's seven MVC matches last season. He finished tied for second in the conference in goals and points in conference contests.
That 2025 season came on the heels of a stellar 2024 campaign in which Terry was named to the United Soccer Coaches All-America Second Team and the TopDrawerSoccer Best XI (All-America) Third Team. Terry had 12 goals and 29 points as a junior in '24.
As mentioned, he has been named to the All-MVC Team in each of BGSU's three seasons in the conference, earning a pair of first-team selections after being named to the second team as a sophomore in 2023.
Terry was chosen by Seattle Sounders FC in the third round of the MLS SuperDraft in December of 2024. He became just the fifth player in program history to return to the Falcons the next season after being named an All-American, and the first-ever player in BG history to return after being selected in the MLS draft.
With a total of 11 game-winning goals in his BGSU career, Terry is tied for second on that list.
Terry and the Falcons open the regular-season schedule on Thursday evening (Aug. 20), taking on Wright State at Cochrane Stadium. First touch is set for 7:00 p.m., and – as is always the case for BGSU home soccer matches – admission is free.
