SETTING THE SCENE / FOLLOW THE FALCONS
• The Bowling Green State University men's soccer team opens the 2026 season with a Thursday-evening matchup (Aug. 20) at Cochrane Stadium. Head coach Eric Nichols and the Falcons face Wright State University in the latest battle for the I-75 Cup. First touch is set for 7:00 p.m., and – as is the case for all BGSU home matches – admission is free.
• Then, the Orange and Brown will prepare for a weekend match in Western Pennsylvania. BGSU will meet Duquesne University on Sunday (Aug. 23), in a 5:00 p.m. start at Rooney Field.
THE I-75 CUP
• The I-75 Cup is a traveling trophy that goes to the winner of the BGSU-WSU match. The teams have played every year (with the exception of the COVID-shortened 2020-21 season) since Eric Nichols took the helm, and the Falcons are 10-4-1 vs. the Raiders in the Nichols Era.
"BUH GAWD, THAT'S TRACE TERRY'S MUSIC!"
• One of the top strikers in BGSU men's soccer history has returned to the program, head coach Eric Nichols recently announced. Trace Terry has (re)joined the Falcons for the 2026 season.
• Terry – a 2024 All-American, a three-time All-Missouri Valley Conference Team selection and a two-time United Soccer Coaches All-Region selection – is one of the top scorers in BGSU history. A native of Bellbrook, Ohio (Bellbrook H.S.), Terry has scored 69 points in 68 career matches for the Falcons. He is tied for seventh in school history in goals, with 28, and ranks eighth on the BG career points chart. Terry also has 13 assists in his BG career to date.
WHERE TO WATCH
• Thursday's Wright State match will be aired by BCSN (NLL Network) in the Toledo area, and will also be available on the BCSN+ App and ESPN+. Sunday's Duquesne duel will be streamed on ESPN+.
