Game #2 - Sept. 11 - at Bowling Green 40, Tennessee Tech 15
December 19, 1999 | Football
Sept. 11, 1999
The Falcons scored their only points of the first half in the first stanza on a pair of touchdowns then saw the Golden Eagles get two field goals and drove to the Bowling Green eight-yard line with eight seconds left when quarterback Michael Peeples was sacked and fumbled and Bowling Green recovered to take the 14-6 lead to the locker room.
Tennessee Tech had a 11-6 edge in first downs in the first half, while BG had a slim 114-107 edge in total offense.
After BG stopped Tennessee Tech on the opening possession of the second half, Marcus Allen blocked Andy Dorsey's punt and Ken Dobbs recovered at the Tech 15-yard line to set up a short Jason Strasser field goal.
When the Falcons held the Golden Eagles on their next possession, Dorsey's punt was again blocked, this time by Joe Alls, and Emmanuel Hendrix picked up the ball at five-yard line and trotted in for a touchdown and a 23-6 Bowling Green edge.
A Tech turnover, a Chris Haneline interception, set up the Falcons at the Tech 20-yard line with just under two minutes left and Ricky Schneider passed to Brent Martin for the 20 yards on the first play.
The Falcons then recovered the ensuing kickoff at their 20-yard line and four plays later Martin's one-yard run sewed the game up.
It was the fifth straight home win for the Falcons who now travel to Marshall to battle the defending MAC champions next week.
