The difference in the game was the rushing attack of both teams. The Falcons ran for 223 yards, behind the first 100-yard day of his career by freshman Joe Alls, while the Falcon defense limited Central Michigan to just 43 yards on 24 carries.
The Falcons scored the first 21 points of the game, two of those three touchdowns coming on drives to open the game and open the second half. The first half score came on a 10-play, 80-yard drive and they started the second half by driving 57 yards in nine plays.
After CMU put their only points of the game on the board 1:50 after the Falcons had made it 21-7, a pair of BG scores just 2:27 apart early in the fourth quarter put the game away.
BG had come into the game 10th in the MAC against the run having yielded an average of 245 yards on the ground over the last four games. But, this afternoon it was different as CMU did not get into the positive figures rushing the ball until there was less than five minutes left in the first half.
Joe Alls led the Falcon ground game with 134 yards on 29 carries, the first 100-yard day of his career.
