The Bowling Green State University women's cross country team was picked to finish in a second-place tie in the 1999 Mid-American Conference race, according to the league's coaches. The MAC Preseason Poll was released this afternoon by the conference office in Cleveland.
In the men's cross country poll, Bowling Green was picked to finish eighth at this year's league meet.
The Falcon women received 111 points to place behind Ohio. BGSU, which received one first-place vote, earned the same number of points as Kent. The Falcon women captured the MAC title last year, earning that crown for the third time in four years.
The BGSU men collected 58 points to finish behind Eastern Michigan, Miami, Western Michigan, Central Michigan, Kent, Ball State and Ohio. The Falcons placed ninth at last year's MAC race.
Both of the Falcon cross country squads are scheduled to begin the 1999 season on Sept. 11 at the Ohio University Dual in Athens, Ohio.
