Falcons Stretch Unbeaten Streak to Four With 4-1 Triumph Over Northern Illinois

Bowling Green men's soccer team improved its overall record to 6-7-1 and Mid-American Conference mark to 2-1-1 with a 4-1 victory over Northern Illinois (7-8-0, 1-4-0) Sunday afternoon at BG's Cochrane Field. The victory also increased BG's unbeaten streak to four matches (3-0-1). In those four contests, BG has outscored its opponents 12-4.
Junior Adam Erhard opened the scoring with BG's first penalty kick goal of the season at the 18:35 mark. Gene Braxton gave the Falcons a 2-0 lead with his second goal of the campaign at 30:30 off assists from Chris Dore and Erhard. Fred Degand increased the BG lead to 3-0 at 37:35 with his second of the year. Dore and Mike Tinajero drew assists on Degand's goal.
Peter Agrimson got the Huskies on the board at 68:31 with a goal off a free kick. Detrick Matthews scored his first of the year at 82:35 with Matt Lyons garnering the lone assist.
Falcon goalkeeper Ty Fowler made eight saves, while NIU's Kurt Baumgartner was credited with four stops.
The Falcons will next be in action this Friday at preseason MAC favorite Akron with kickoff slated for 7:15 p.m.
