Women's Tennis Opens Dual Season With 7-2 Win

TOLEDO, Ohio - The Bowling Green women's tennis team opened the dual portion of the 1999-2000 season with a 7-2 win over Butler Sunday afternoon. The Falcons picked up five singles victories and two doubles wins in the match, which was held at Shadow Valley in Toledo.
The Falcons of head coach Penny Dean got singles wins at all but the top flight, with juniors Abby Bratton and Meghan Rhodes, senior Deidee Bissinger, sophomore Devon Bissinger and junior Tracy Howitt picking up victories in flights two through six, respectively. Junior Erika Wasilewski suffered a loss at the #1 flight.
In doubles play, the Falcons' top team of Wasilewski and Bratton emerged victorious, as did BG's second duo, Rhodes and Deidee Bissinger. Howitt and Devon Bissinger competed at the third flight.
The Falcons will compete in a pair of dual matches next weekend, heading to Michigan State Saturday (Jan. 29) before hosting Illinois at Chicago the following morning. The MSU match is scheduled to begin at 1:00 p.m., while the Falcons are slated to meet UIC in a 10:00 a.m. start at Shadow Valley.
