The Falcons set a school-record with 46 shot attempts, but went over 80 minutes before finally putting a ball in the back of the net. Another late Falcon goal resulted in a 2-0 win over visiting Niagara. Michelle Lisy got the Brown and Orange on the board at the 82:02 mark. Lisy took a pass from Stephanie Heller in the box, made a move to shake her defender and fired the ball past NU goalkeeper Rayanne Roman. Roman made 15 saves on the afternoon.
With just 31 seconds remaining in the match, Autumn Harris scored off of a Heller corner kick to complete the scoring.
BGSU outshot Niagara by a 46-4 margin. The Falcons' shot total broke the team record of 42, set in the first-ever match in program history (August 29, 1997 at Kent). The Brown and Orange had 17 shots on goal, just two off the school record in that category. All four of NU's shots were on target, with Erika Flanders making the four saves to earn her first career shutout.
The win marked the 100th career victory for BGSU head coach Tom Piccirillo. Piccirillo, now 17-25-1 in his third year at the Falcon helm, is 100-84-9 in his 11th year overall.
