Kemerer Ranks Among National Blocking Leaders

The NCAA has released the latest Division I volleyball statistics, and Bowling Green State University senior Lori Kemerer (Antwerp, Ohio/Antwerp) ranks among the national leaders in blocking. Kemerer is 20th in the nation in blocks per game, with 1.48. She had a total of 83 blocks in 56 games this year, as of Sunday. Kemerer currently leads the Mid-American Conference in blocks per game.
Kemerer had a pair of blocks in last night's (Oct. 19) three-game BGSU sweep at Oakland (15-6, 15-4, 15-7), giving her a total of 85 blocks on the season. Her blocks-per-game average now stands at 1.47.
Kemerer, who ranks seventh or higher in each of BGSU's career blocking categories, has a career total of 469 blocks. She is third in that category, needing 17 blocks to move into a second-place tie. The BGSU career record is 569 blocks, amassed by Lisa Mika (1988-91). Kemerer is second at the school in career block assists (362) and is seventh in solo blocks (107).
The NCAA Division I statistics will be released each week (generally Tuesday or Wednesday) through late November.
BGSU, 12-8 overall and 5-3 in MAC play, is on the road for a pair of conference matches this weekend. The Brown and Orange will face Kent Friday night (Oct. 22) before taking on Akron the following evening (Oct. 23).
