DELAWARE, Ohio - The Bowling Green State University women's cross country team recorded a fourth-place finish at Friday's (Oct. 13) All-Ohio Championships. The race, which generally features nearly every college and university in the state, was held in Delaware, Ohio.
The Falcons had a team score of 131 points to trail only Kent State (77), Ohio (85) and Akron (107) in the 36-team race.
Malone's Everlyne Lagat was the individual winner among the 249 competitors. Sophomore Joy Echler was the Falcons' top finisher, placing seventh in a time of 19:35.
Senior Christine Thompson, the second Falcon to cross the line, was 11th in a time of 19:41. Freshmen Jordan Hartmann and Amber Culp were 32nd and 33rd, respectively, as Hartmann crossed the line in 20:19, followed one second later by Culp.
BG's fifth finisher was senior Lisa Mariea, who placed 48th overall. Sophomores Erin Croley (58th) and Briana Killian (59th) also competed in the race for the Brown and Orange.
The Falcons are now idle from competition until Saturday, Oct. 28, when the team heads to Kalamazoo, Mich., for the Mid-American Conference Championship. Start time for that race is scheduled for noon.
