Women's Cross Country Places Ninth At League Meet

KALAMAZOO, Mich. - The Bowling Green State University women's cross country team posted a ninth-place finish at the Mid-American Conference Championship Saturday (Oct. 28). The event, hosted by Western Michigan University, was held at Pine View Golf Club.
Central Michigan won the 13-team meet with a team score of 78 points, outperforming second-place Ball State by a single point. The Falcons of head coach Cami Wells had a team total of 188 points.
Individually, senior Christine Thompson was the Falcons' top finisher in the 100-woman race. Thompson placed 17th overall in a time of 18:12.
Sophomore Joy Echler crossed the line six seconds after Thompson, placing 22nd. Freshman Amber Culp was 38th in a time of 18:31.
Also competing for the Brown and Orange: Freshman Jordan Hartmann (18:51, 52nd), senior Lisa Mariea (19:00, 62nd), sophomore Briana Killian (19:08, 67th), junior Lisa Schroeder (19:20, 74th) and sophomore Erin Croley (19:48, 83rd).
Toledo's Tuula Laitinen won the race, finishing in an even 17 minutes.
