Men's Cross Country Sixth At MAC Championships

KALAMAZOO, Mich. - The Bowling Green State University men's cross country team posted a sixth-place finish at the Mid-American Conference Championships in Kalamazoo, Mich., Saturday (Oct. 28). The 12-team race, hosted by Western Michigan University, was held at the Pine View Golf Club.
Eastern Michigan University won the race with a team total of 38 points. Central Michigan and Miami each had 80 points, followed by host WMU (112), Kent State (143) and the Falcons (145).
Individually, junior Tom Kutter was the top Falcon finisher. He placed 12th in the 95-runner race with a time of 24:54. That result earned him membership on the All-MAC Second Team. (The top six runners are named to the all-league first team, while finishers seven through 12 are named to the second team.)
Freshman Paul Niedzwiecki was the second Falcon to cross the line, placing 15th in a time of 24:59. Junior Rob Glatz was BG's third finisher, placing 33rd in 25:42.
Other BGSU competitors included junior Austin Chapin (25:50, 35th), junior Chad Kunkle (26:25, 51st), freshman Justin Perez (26:28, 54th), senior Kreg Hatfield (26:32, 55th) and sophomore Dave Larson (30:20, 95th).
EMU's Blake McDowell was the individual winner, crossing the line in a time of 24:19.
