FALCONS BATTLE THREE-TIME CHAMPS
Traditionally, BGSU has had a great deal of success when facing the Thundering Herd.The Falcons own a 19-5 edge in the series which began in 1954. Since rejoining the MAC in 1997,Marshall has won two out of the three meetings. However, BGSU has an 11-1 record in Doyt Perry Stadium in the series including a 34-13 victory over a previously undefeated Marshall squad on Halloween, 1998. Saturday's contest against Marshall will be the fifth of six television appearances for the Falcons this season.
BLACKNEY MOVES UP IN THE MAC
Coach Gary Blackney, who will resign from his position following the conclusion of the 2000 season, moved into sixth place in career MAC victories (47) and eighth in overall wins (60)following the Falcons triumph against EMU. The third winningest coach in Falcon history, Blackney is 60-47-2 overall and 47-28-2 against conference opposition.
IN THE MAC
The Falcons have led in the fourth quarter in four of five games, and had seven chances inside the five to take a lead in the only game they did not own an advantage (Akron).
The Falcons have held opponents to 77.4 rushing yards per game.
The Falcons have outrushed their opponent in each game averaging 139 yards per game.
BGSU has outscored opponents 44-19 in the second quarter.
